fixo - The Tradespeople Finder!
Another major project undertaken by AIS was the development of a unique idea - 'fixo'. The purpose of this service was to enable the introduction of customers to trades people through a common directory, via the use of SMS text message technology. This solution also utilises Postcode Grid Reference technology to locate trades people within a given area (or postcode) - another technology our developers specialise in.
The process is simple; a customer arrives on the fixo website looking for a tradesperson of a particular type. The customer simply specifies their requirement, their name and contact telephone number and most importantly, their property postcode. Upon the submission of this data, the fixo system identifies all of the relevant trades people within serviceable range of the customers postcode and notifies them of the customers requirement for a trades person.
If the tradesperson is available to service the customer's request, they simply respond to the customer's notification with a special 4 digit code that relates to the customer. Once the response is received by the fixo system, the customer's details are sent to the tradesperson and their account is charged a fee for the introduction.
We were commissioned to develop a technical model of the system based on a simple idea from our client. By first establishing a specification for the system based on initial analysis, we devised a design and comprehensive document detailing how the system would work. From this design we developed and implemented a fully working system which was extensively tested, constantly evaluated and enhanced to adapt to the ever changing business model of fixo.
