Hallmark Direct - Fully Integrated E-Commerce System
Hallmark Specialist Engineering Ltd is a company that specialise in manual handling products designed to enable operatives to transport heavy equipment within the workplace safely, with minimal risk of injury.
AIS were commissioned to develop a bespoke e-commerce solution that was capable of taking online payments from customers for goods. This system was to replace Hallmark's existing e-commerce solution that was built using Actinic and as a result, achieved poor search engine ranking (a common problem with Actinic). Hallmarks decision to change from Actinic was based on the fact that AIS had already created 2 other database driven websites that enjoy high search engine ranking and have resulted in a significant positive impact on the consultancy side of their business.
The system includes common e-commerce features such as a shopping basket with payment service provider integration, payment stage tracking with email notification, catalogue structure editor, product structure editor, usage statistics and many other features. As with all our online solutions, the system has been designed to be self optimising allowing the customer to constantly add more content without the need to worry about search engine optimisation.
Shoppers place orders by navigating a comprehensive catalogue of products with derivatives and selecting products they require. Customers can edit the contents of their basket before they proceed with their order, such as removing items and editing quantities. Shoppers then simply enter their contact information and then enter their credit card details into a secure PROTX payment screen.
If PROTX confirms that the customer's details are authentic, PROTX will then instruct our website to permit the order to proceed. If PROTX cannot authenticate the details of the payer, then it will notify the website and immediately prompt the Hallmark sales team to call the customer and ask if they would like some assistance in paying.
When a customer order has been authorised to proceed, the system generates a sales invoice and emails it to the customer. Similarly, the system generates order forms that can be used to place orders with Hallmarks suppliers. This reduces the administrative burden of printing out invoices and mailing them to customers. The time required to process an order is dramatically reduced.
The system also provides a feature that enables the export of customer details to the companies Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution, which can be used to re-canvass the customer at later dates with new products and services.
